GetLawED AI access — Terms of Use
1. Who provides the service
GetLawED is provided by Konnektivity (Pty) Ltd, trading as GetKonnektED (registration number 2026/363576/07), 28 Peter Place, Lyme Park, Bryanston, Sandton, Gauteng, 2108 ("GetLawED", "we", "us"). Contact: support@getkonnekted.com.
"You" means the person or organisation that signs up for or uses the service. If you sign up for a firm or company, you confirm that you may bind it to these terms.
2. What the service is
- The library — official South African legal texts: judgments published by the courts, Acts (split into sections), regulations, rules and codes, municipal by-laws and land use schemes, Bills and Government Gazettes, each linked to its official source and, for legislation, its gazette reference. The public pages at getlawed.co.za/law/ show part of it.
- Tools for AI assistants and software — a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at
https://getlawed.co.za/api/mcp/law, an Agent2Agent (A2A) agent athttps://getlawed.co.za/api/mcp/law/a2aand a REST API athttps://getlawed.co.za/api/law/v1/, which search the library, return the text of a section and check citations. See the developer documentation. - Citation checks — South African case citations and Acts in your text are compared with our official copies and verified records, and each comes back with a status (found, mismatch, name only, not found, unchecked, repealed or number mismatch) and, where we hold it, the official source.
The tools return library text and records; they are digitally assisted, deterministic look-ups and do not write legal opinions.
3. What "verified" means — and what it does not
- "Verified" means that the text or citation was checked against the official copy we hold (from a court, gov.za, the Government Printer, a provincial gazette, a municipality or a regulator), and that the official source is linked so you can check it yourself.
- It is not legal advice. GetLawED is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Results support legal professionals and other users; they must be read and judged before being relied on.
- No warranty that a text is current. Legislation is shown as published in the official copy. Later amendments may not be applied, and a provision may have been amended, repealed, suspended or declared invalid since. Where our amendment records know of later amending Acts we say so, but those records are not complete.
- Absence is not non-existence. If an authority is not in the library, or a check returns "not found" or "unchecked", that does not mean the authority does not exist or is wrong — check the law reports and other sources.
- You remain responsible for the authorities you cite and the advice you give, including your duties to your clients and to the court. Check every authority against an authoritative source before you rely on it.
4. Your account and API keys
- Give a real name and an email address you control. We send account messages to that address.
- Your API key (it starts with
glw_) is confidential. Keep it out of public code, browser pages and shared documents. You, the account holder, are responsible for all use of your key and for the calls made with it, whoever makes them. - If a key may have leaked, issue a new one at once from a manage link (the old key stops working immediately) and tell us at support@getkonnekted.com.
- The Firm plan may be used by up to 10 people in the same firm under one account.
- Using the free tier without a key is allowed; limits then apply per IP address.
5. Plans and prices
All prices are in South African rand and include VAT. A "call" is one tool call or API request — a search, a section read or a citation check of one text.
| Plan | Price | Allowance | How you get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | R0 | 25 searches and 50 citation checks a day | Sign up on the plans page, or use without a key |
| Professional | R199 / month | 2,000 calls a month | Card, self-service (included with GetLawED subscriptions) |
| Firm | R999 / month | 20,000 calls a month, up to 10 users | Card, self-service |
| Developer | R4,500 / month, or R45,000 a year paid in advance | 100,000 calls a month included, then R0.05 a call | Written agreement and invoice |
| Scale | R15,000 / month | 500,000 calls a month included, then R0.03 a call | Written agreement and invoice |
| Enterprise | From R250,000 a year | As agreed | Written agreement |
There is no setup fee for the standard API. Custom integration work (custom feeds or formats, or building GetLawED into your own system) is quoted per job. Unused calls do not carry over to the next month. Allowances reset on the 1st of each month (free daily limits at midnight), South African time.
6. Billing, renewal and cancellation
- Card billing. Professional and Firm are paid by card through Paystack. The first month is charged when you subscribe; the plan then renews every month on the same date, charged to the same card, until you cancel. We do not see or store your full card number — Paystack keeps it. Each payment gets a tax invoice by email.
- Cancellation. Cancel any time from a manage link (request one on the plans page). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for; you keep the paid allowance until then, after which the account moves to the free plan. There are no refunds for part-months, except where the law requires one.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we try again daily for 7 days and tell you by email; meanwhile your key works with free-plan limits. If it still fails after 7 days, the account moves to the free plan. You can subscribe again at any time.
- Price changes. We give at least 30 days' notice by email of any price change. The new price applies from your first renewal after the notice period; if you do not accept it, cancel before then.
- Plans by agreement (Developer, Scale, Enterprise) are invoiced as set out in the written agreement. Overage calls are counted monthly and invoiced in arrears.
7. Fair use
You may use the service to research, quote and check South African law in your own work and inside your own product's answers. You may not:
- bulk download, systematically copy, crawl or scrape the library, the law pages or the API (beyond what normal search engines do with the public pages);
- resell, sublicense or redistribute access to the service or the library, or share your key outside your account;
- use the service to build, train or fill a competing database or legal-information service;
- try to get around limits, keys or security, or overload the service.
Use of the library inside a product sold to others needs a Developer, Scale or Enterprise plan under a written licence (clause 8). We may throttle, suspend or close access that breaks these terms or threatens the service, where possible after telling you.
8. Developer, Scale and Enterprise agreements
Every Developer, Scale and Enterprise agreement includes these conditions, in addition to the rest of these terms:
- Attribution. Answers or features built on GetLawED data show "Verified by GetLawED" with a link to getlawed.co.za (or to the cited GetLawED page) wherever the result is displayed.
- No bulk export, resale or competing database. The data is used inside the developer's own product answers only. No bulk export or caching beyond what a single answer needs, no resale or redistribution of the library itself, and no building of a competing database.
- Fair use and quotas. Each plan has its included calls. Calls above them are billed at the plan's overage rate up to a fair-use ceiling (unless the agreement says otherwise, 2 times the included calls); above the ceiling, and above any plan's allowance, requests are throttled automatically with HTTP status 429 until the allowance resets.
The Developer plan may be prepaid annually (R45,000, two months free). Legal-technology partners who refer customers may join our partner programme (a revenue share on what referred customers pay GetLawED) under a separate written agreement.
9. Availability
We run the service on a best-effort basis and work to keep it available and correct, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and there is no service level agreement unless one is agreed in writing. We may change, add or remove features; where a change materially reduces a paid plan, we will tell you and you may cancel.
10. Intellectual property
Official texts of a legislative, administrative or legal nature are not subject to copyright (Copyright Act 98 of 1978, section 12(8)(a)); we reproduce them from the official copies and you may use those texts freely. GetLawED's own work — the selection, arrangement and structure of the library, the section splits, the citation map, summaries and status labels, the law pages and the software, MCP, A2A and API services — is protected by copyright and other rights belonging to Konnektivity (Pty) Ltd. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service as described; they do not transfer any of those rights to you.
11. Privacy and POPIA
We process personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and our privacy policy. For AI access we keep:
- your name, email address and (if you give it) company, and the date you accepted these terms and the privacy consent;
- your API key in hashed form (we cannot read it back), with when it was created and last used;
- usage counts — the number of calls per tool per day (not the text of your searches or documents); for free use without a key, the IP address with those daily counts; and the IP address you signed up from;
- payment references, plan periods and invoices (card details stay with Paystack).
Purpose: to run your account, apply your plan's limits, bill you, prevent abuse and send you account emails. We do not sell your information or use it for third-party advertising. Retention: account details while your account is open and up to 12 months after it closes; usage counts for up to 24 months (IP-based counts for free use for 90 days); invoices and payment records for 5 years, as tax law requires. Your rights: you may ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information by emailing support@getkonnekted.com; we will delete what we are not required by law to keep. You may also complain to the Information Regulator.
12. Personal information in judgments — takedown requests
Judgments are published by the courts and often name parties and witnesses. We reproduce them as published. If a judgment in the library contains personal information that should not be available — for example the identity of a child, a victim of a sexual offence or another person whose identity a court or the law protects, or information a court has ordered to be anonymised — email support@getkonnekted.com with the subject "POPIA takedown", the link or document reference, the information concerned and why it should be removed. We will acknowledge the request within 5 business days and, where it is justified, remove or redact the information (or the document) from the library, the pages and the tools, normally within 10 business days, and tell you what we did.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows: (a) the service is provided "as is", without any warranty that texts are complete, current or free of errors (see clause 3); (b) we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss arising from reliance on a result without checking it; and (c) our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 where they apply to you.
14. Suspension and closing an account
You may close your account at any time by emailing support@getkonnekted.com (paid plans: cancel first — clause 6). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, does not pay, or is used unlawfully. Clauses 3, 10, 13 and 16 survive closure.
15. Notices
We send notices to the email address on your account; you send them to support@getkonnekted.com. Our address for legal notices is 28 Peter Place, Lyme Park, Bryanston, Sandton, Gauteng, 2108.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and South African courts have jurisdiction.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version date at the top changes with every update. We will email paid subscribers at least 30 days before a material change takes effect; if you do not accept it, you may cancel before then. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
